Amends Being Made: Over 70 years ago, the United States Army stole a birthday cake during battle from a 13 year old Italian girl during World War 2. Now, 70 years later, the Department of Defense bought a birthday cake for Meri Mion to apologize for what happened many years ago. The cake had been left on the window sill to cool by her mother but the hungry American soldiers took it. Now, the soldiers sang her happy birthday and wished her well on her 90th birthday. The bear followed all traffic rules when arriving and made its way safely through the gates. It soon found itself in a predicament stuck between the trailers. After several hours, the California Fire Department was able to lift a trailer up and access the bear. It was sedated and treated before the Wildlife Fish & Game Department relocated the bear back into the wild. Scientific Advancement: Multiple sclerosis or MS is a serious disease in which the immune system eats away at the protective covering of nerves. The Epstein-Barr virus is a leading cause of MS, glandular fever, and some cancers. US scientists are working on a promising vaccine that has shown success in mice in blocking the infection completely. If everything goes as planned, human trials could begin as early as in 2023!
